Medical Education Grants

Kura Oncology’s independent Medical Education (ME) Grants Program provides support funding to organizations that provide healthcare provider education and advance patient care objectives aligned with Kura Oncology’s core therapeutic areas of interest. Funding is available to support the following therapeutic areas:

  • Acute myeloid leukemia (AML)

Organizations eligible to receive funding include medical and professional associations, patient organizations, hospitals and health systems, government organizations, medical education companies, and both CME-accredited programs and non-CME-accredited programs. Funding may not be provided directly to healthcare professionals or their practices.

Requests should be submitted at least 45 days prior to the scheduled program/activity or to any applicable submission deadline (e.g., for satellite symposia at national conferences) to which the request is subject. Requests submitted less than 45 days prior to the scheduled program/activity or applicable submission deadline will be reviewed at Kura Oncology’s discretion. Requests submitted less than 30 days prior to the scheduled program/activity or applicable submission deadline will not be reviewed by Kura Oncology.

Kura Oncology requires funding support to be publicly disclosed.

Program Examples & Requirements

  • Kura Oncology may provide grant support for medical education programs that are entirely independent of Kura Oncology influence and enhance healthcare professionals’ ability in diagnosing and treating patients in Kura Oncology therapeutic areas of interest.

    The request must indicate that Kura Oncology would not be the sole commercial contributor.

Medical education grants may be provided for

    • Accredited (CME/CE) medical education for healthcare professionals
    • Non-accredited medical education for healthcare professionals
    • Independent education for patients

Submission requirements

    • The title of the program
    • The topics to be covered
    • Program learning objectives
    • Program outcomes
    • The names of faculty, if known
    • The intended audience and anticipated number of attendees
    • Whether the program is accredited by the ACCME or another accrediting organization
    • A copy of the proposed agenda/overview, if available
    • Deadline, if any for responding to the request
    • Itemized budget for the proposed funding use, if applicable
    • W-9 for U.S. organizations (Kura Oncology may require a W-8 for non-U.S. organizations)

Calls for grant applications

  • Kura Oncology is committed to conducting business in compliance with all Kura Oncology policies, American Medical Association (“AMA”) Guidelines on Gifts to Physicians, the AMA Ethical Opinion on Continuing Medical Education, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (“PhRMA”) code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (“ACCME”) Standards for Commercial Support, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) regulations and guidance, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General (“OIG”) guidance and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

Fellowships & Scholarships

Kura Oncology may provide funding for fellowships or scholarships to support clinical or research professionals in therapeutic areas of interest to Kura Oncology. The recipient should be an academic institution, teaching hospital, medical school, or medical society or association that has a bona fide interest in advancing education and research, and the recipients of all fellowships or scholarships should be selected by such institution, hospital, medical school or medical society with no involvement by Kura. Funding would be given directly to the academic institution, teaching hospital, medical school, or medical society or association and not to an individual candidate or recipient.

Submission Requirements

    • Brief descriptions of the educational activity being pursued
    • Indicate that the selecting academic institution, teaching hospital, medical school, or medical society or association independently selected the proposed funding recipient
    • Provide supporting information about the application and selection process for the fellowship and/or scholarship

Charitable Donations

Kura Oncology may make donations to charitable organizations for bona fide charitable purposes, including, without limitation, to further education, patient advocacy and improved patient access to care. Eligible donations include those made for the general support of a charitable organization to advance its identified objective(s) or mission(s), as well as a donation made for a specific project managed by such a charitable organization.

Kura may provide donations only to charitable organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax exempt pursuant to § 501(c)(3) or § 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code or equivalent legislation in other countries.

    • Summary of the proposed use of the donation, and the need for the program or services for which the donation is being requested
    • Amount requested from Kura Oncology
    • Current year operating budget
    • Estimated start and end dates, if applicable
    • Organization’s mission and experience in providing similar programs and services
    • W-9 for U.S. organizations (Kura Oncology may require a W-8 for non-U.S. organizations)
    • IRS determination letter for U.S. organizations
    • Itemized budget for the proposed funding use, if applicable

Sponsorships

As part of Kura Oncology’s commitment to the patient community and to advancing awareness of the disease areas in which we work, the Company will consider appropriate sponsorship opportunities that align with Kura Oncology areas of interest, as well as sponsorship for fundraising activities for organizations that provide programs and events for the patient and medical communities.

Submission requirements

    • The requested amount or sponsorship levels
    • List of benefits to Kura Oncology associated with levels of sponsorship
    • Educational need or value that the sponsored program or activity brings to the clinical or patient community
    • Any additional documentation to support the request, such as agenda or program brochure, attendee demographics, etc.
